My favorite item this month was, of course, a book. I stumbled upon Milk and Honey when scrolling down my dashboard on Tumblr and seeing photos taken of pages from the book. I was intrigued with the language of the poems that I saw on the micro-blogging platform and was curious to find out more about the book. When finding out that the pages were from a bestselling anthology, I couldn’t help but pick up a copy at my local Barnes & Noble.
Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry that documents the life of author Rupi Kaur. The book is divided into four sections that travel through the violent, loving, and breaking stages of her life before concluding with healing. Readers are launched into Kaur’s world with scenes that are often a reflection of our own. The raw emotion that is shared in the book not only makes it page-turning, but also heart-breaking.
Read Milk and Honey with an open heart and box of tissues.
